LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Christian Bale will not face charges in connection with a July 21 incident involving his mother and sister at the Dorchester Hotel In London, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
“We can today confirm that we have advised the Metropolitan Police Service that the actor Christian Bale should not face any charges following an incident which occurred in relation to his mother and sister at the Dorchester hotel on 21 July this year,” London’s Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement, obtained by Access Hollywood.
“Whilst the CPS treats all incidents which take place in a domestic context seriously, it is important that the views of complainants are also taken into account when making decisions in such cases,” the statement continued. “Taking all the factors into consideration, the decision has been taken that there is insufficient evidence to afford a realistic prospect of conviction, and accordingly the police have been advised that no further action should be taken against Mr. Bale,” the statement went on to say.
“The Dark Knight”star was arrested in July in London, after police opened an investigation into reported claims that Bale had assaulted his mother and sister.
“A 34-year-old man attended a central London police station this morning by appointment. He was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault,” a spokesperson for the London police station told Access Hollywood at the time.
Shortly after his arrest, attorneys for Bale issued a statement to Access, denying any assault took place.
“Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister,” the attorneys said in the statement. “Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police.”
