LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Twenty five years after I first saw The B-52s’ “Legal Tender” video on MTV, I finally caught the band live in concert. My first reaction when the band came out with their latest album, “Funplex,” in the spring of 2008 was that, “They really shouldn’t still be making music this good.”
Unlike Madonna, The B-52s have stayed small and true to their roots and their original identity.

Two of my favorite artists from the RCA Records group are back this fall with Greatest Hits collections, and along with their respective retrospectives, both of them are releasing new songs along with their compilations.
First up, is Sarah McLachlan, whose 16-track anthology, “Closer: The Best of Sarah McLachlan,” will be released on October 7.
Next up, comes Christina Aguilera’s “Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits,” which will be available for purchase on November 11, exclusively through Target.
Often, I’m cynical about Greatest Hits collections – especially for younger artists – I always feel like, “Come back when you have Tina Turner’s career – THEN, you can put out a Greatest Hits collection.”
These two, however, are going to be welcome additions to my library.
